In Ukraine, the rules for paying sick leave have changed: what employees need to know.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved important changes to social insurance legislation that expand the rights of insured persons. The law will come into effect on April 4, 2025. This was reported by the press service of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
One of the key changes is the right for employees to receive temporary disability benefits and maternity and childbirth payments in conjunction. Now, employees can receive these payments not only from their main place of work but also from additional places of work. The number of places of work for which insurance payments can be received is not limited.
Particular attention should be paid to the financing of sick leave after workplace accidents. If an employee is in relations with another employer and loses their ability to work, then the new insurer will pay for the first five days of disability at their own expense. The amount of the payment will be 100% of the average salary regardless of the insurance record.
From the sixth day of temporary disability, the financing of sick leave will be carried out by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
