Chicken prices soared in Ukraine: why meat is getting more expensive.


Ukrainian chicken meat prices have significantly increased. According to monitoring data from "Minfin", a comparison of average chicken meat prices showed a noticeable increase.
The largest price jump is observed in chicken thighs: they have risen in price by 13.16 UAH per kilogram. Now their average cost is 122.50 UAH, whereas in July it was 109.34 UAH. Drumsticks also became more expensive, but less significantly - by 61 kopecks, reaching 72.45 UAH per kilogram.
Chicken carcasses rose in price by 3.92 UAH, and now their average cost is 81.05 UAH per kilogram. Chicken fillet also became more expensive by 4.15 UAH, and now costs 164.45 UAH per kilogram.
Chicken meat prices vary depending on the retail chain. For example, in Novus chicken thigh costs 129 UAH per kilogram, while in Megamarket it costs 116 UAH.
Earlier, the general director of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club, Roman Slasten, warned about future price increases for chicken. He cited the rise in feed costs and reduction in production volumes, increased tax burden, and higher prices for this type of meat in Europe as reasons. Because export is becoming more profitable.
It was also reported that the EU might impose tariffs on popular products from Ukraine due to reaching the duty-free limit in trade with the EU for honey, corn, and chicken.
