20 officials in Russia have died under mysterious circumstances since the beginning of the great war.


In Russia, discussions continue about mysterious deaths and suicides of officials, especially since the start of the war with Ukraine. Recently, there has been noted an increase in the number of deceased employees of the Ministry of Transport, including the suicide of its head Roman Starovoit and the death of his deputy Andriy Korniychuk from a heart attack. This was reported by The Moscow Times based on information from Glavkom.
List of deceased officials over the years:
2022:
- Vyacheslav Trubnikov, former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service;
- Lev Sotskov, Major General of the Foreign Intelligence Service in retirement;
- Alexey Ogarov, employee of the presidential administration and 'Rosvooruzhenie';
- Zalim Kerefov, vice-rector of the Russian Customs Academy;
- Oleg Kortunov, head of Cheboksary;
- Pavlo Antov, deputy from 'United Russia';
- Ivan Pechorin, director of the aviation sector;
- Igor Nosov, CEO of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic.
2023:
- Marina Yankina, head of the finance department of the Western Military District;
- Vladimir Makarov, deputy head of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for combating extremism;
- Petro Kucherenko, deputy minister of science;
- Sergiy Filatov, head of Boris Yeltsin's administration.
2024:
- Arthur Pryakhin, head of the Karelia branch of the antimonopoly service;
- Mikhail Maximenkov, former head of the internal security department of the Investigative Committee;
- Konstantin Klyuev, deputy head of the administration of Vladivostok;
- Yevgeny Golovatyy, deputy head of the 'P' department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;
- Vladimir Ananyev, deputy head of the Arkhangelsk regional administration;
- Igor Rozhnev, deputy head of the Main Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Krasnoyarsk Territory;
- Roman Starovoit, head of the Ministry of Transport;
- Alexey Korniychuk, deputy head of the property management department of the Ministry of Transport of Russia's railway transport agency.
Circumstances of deaths
From April to July 2022, four officials related to law enforcement agencies died under unexpected circumstances. After the death of Vyacheslav Trubnikov and Lev Sotskov, Alexey Ogarov and Zalim Kerefov were found dead. Also in 2022, several civilian officials died, including the head of Cheboksary Oleg Kortunov and deputy Pavlo Antov. In 2023, during a trip to India, the director of the aviation sector and the CEO of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic died, while CEO Igor Nosov was officially recognized as having died of a stroke.
In Russia, there is a mysterious increase in the number of deaths and suicides among officials, which raises public concern and interest. This situation has become a focus of media attention and is regularly discussed by the open public, which expects explanations and investigations from government structures.
