Reserve+ to extend deferments for students and doctoral candidates: date announced.

Ukrainian students and doctoral candidates will receive deferments after the exchange with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine

Starting from January 22, students and doctoral candidates in Ukraine will have their deferments restored. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Kateryna Chernogorenko on her Facebook page.

According to her, this will happen immediately after the resumption and successful testing of information exchange with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

"Immediately after the restoration and successful testing of the exchange with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, we plan to restore deferments for students and doctoral candidates as we have received hundreds of requests for the service to be resumed," Chernogorenko wrote.

Comments to the post indicate that people are interested in when automated deferment processing for the academic staff will be available.

"In Kyiv, there are district military enlistment offices where teachers have been waiting for deferments for the 9th week!! It seems that the deferment is in the protocols, but it is neither reflected in Reserve nor officially documented. One of the reasons is the shortage of staff in the military enlistment office. In some districts, the processing takes three days, while in others, there are not enough staff. A big request - please automate this category as well," the message noted.

In response, Kateryna Chernogorenko stated that they are working on the possibility of obtaining deferments online, and the dates for launching this service will be determined later.

There was also a question regarding deferments for people with disabilities.

"People with disabilities have very significant impairments for life and mostly are registered with the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, as they cannot work. They cannot stand in line for 2 months at the military enlistment office, and what if they need to go to another city for treatment? Please advise what is going on with people with disabilities who are registered with the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine? There is already a 'Register of Providers and Recipients of Social Services' in the Electronic Cabinet of Social Services (soc.gov.ua), and one can log in using id.gov.ua. All information is already digital and available as in the Pension Fund of Ukraine," one Ukrainian complained.

Kateryna Chernogorenko emphasized that deferments for this category of people are a priority.

"We will launch them as soon as we establish interaction with the registers. Follow the page; I will inform you as soon as everything is ready," she clarified.
