The Pentagon commented on the breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh said that the hostilities in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation are in line with US policy.
She announced this during a briefing at the Pentagon.
"This (events in the Kursk region — ed.) aligns with our policy. From the very beginning, we have supported Ukraine in its efforts to defend itself from attacks carried out across the border, and due to the necessity of crossfire. Therefore, they are taking measures to protect themselves from attacks coming from the region, where they can act with our weapons within US policy. You know our weapons, our systems, our capabilities," said the Deputy Spokesperson of the Pentagon — Sabrina Singh.
Singh also noted that US weapons are involved in the Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory.
However, the US does not yet support long-range strikes on Russian territory.
"We do not support long-range attacks on Russia. We have said this from the very beginning. I won't draw a map with circles where they can and cannot strike, but we have made this very clear to the Ukrainians," she added.
The breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Kursk was a surprise for Putin.
