The Parliament of South Korea made an important decision regarding the state of martial law at an emergency meeting.

The Parliament of South Korea decided to lift the martial law that President Yoon Suk-yeol had imposed in the country. Deputies entered the National Assembly and held an urgent meeting where they voted to revoke the presidential order. According to Yonhap, the deputies and citizens who managed to enter the parliament building blocked the entrances with furniture, while the military attempted to enter the hall through the windows but were opposed by protesters.
Earlier, the military announced the suspension of parliamentary activities and prohibited deputies from accessing the National Assembly building. President Yoon Suk-yeol imposed martial law, explaining this as the necessity to protect against North Korean communist forces and to remove anti-state elements.
The leaders of the opposition Democratic Party and the ruling 'People Power' party expressed their protest against this decision. Lee Jae-myung called the imposition of martial law unconstitutional, while Han Dong-hoon promised to block this 'incorrect' decision.
