"Feeling like Olivier salad": captured Russian angered Ukrainians - remembered the mockery of our soldiers in the Russian Federation.

TV channel 1+1 published a report on the conditions of detention of Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine, which caused a wave of negative reactions among Ukrainian media, telegram channels, and social media users. The report shows that captured Russians receive three meals a day, with a total weight of more than a kilogram just for lunch, including meat dishes and vegetable salads.
However, some of the captives express dissatisfaction. In particular, prisoner of war Ilya from the Russian city of Vladimir complains about the climate and the absence of "homemade food": "I want some kind of salad, Olivier. Well, not just chopped cucumber," he stated while sucking on a mint candy bought at a local store.
Such complaints sparked outrage in Ukrainian society, especially against the backdrop of reports of the terrible conditions of Ukrainian prisoners in Russia. According to the Coordinating Headquarters for Prisoners of War, at least 177 Ukrainian defenders and civilians died in Russian captivity after the start of the full-scale invasion.
Social media users reacted sharply to the report. "Now let the Kats@py show how our guys [are being held]," wrote one commentator. Another added: "And now remember how our warriors return from captivity, some of whom are kept without water and food at all."
According to a UN report published on October 1, 2024, the torture of Ukrainian military prisoners is "widespread and systematic" and occurs with the consent of the Russian leadership. Against this background, complaints from Russian prisoners of war about the lack of "Olivier" salad seem particularly cynical.
