New Stage of Eurointegration: Screening of Digital Transformation between Ukraine and the European Commission.


A meeting is taking place in Brussels between representatives of Ukraine and the European Commission as part of the official screening of the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law in the section 'Digital Transformation and Media'.
Such meetings are a necessary part of the negotiation process regarding the country's accession to the European Union, reports the Government Portal.
According to the chief negotiator, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine participates in various EU programs such as 'Digital Europe', 'Connecting Europe Facility', and 'Creative Europe'. The country has also become an observer in European expert groups, signed an agreement with the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), and the Ukrainian regulator participates in the work of BEREC.
Ukraine has plans to expand and accelerate integration for joining the 'Roaming Like at Home' policy, mutual recognition of trust services and electronic identification, integrating Ukraine into DESI (Digital Economy and Society Index), access to the EU Cyber Reserve, and achieving the strategic goal regarding semiconductors within the 'Digital Europe' program. Additionally, Ukraine strives to be an observer in various EU expert groups.
Progress in Areas
Ukraine-EU bilateral meetings on the 'Digital Transformation and Media' section will continue until April 1. During these meetings, Ukrainian specialists will present progress on legislative compliance with EU law and subsequent steps in the following areas:
- Electronic Communications;
- Digital Services;
- Data;
- Trust in Digital Technologies and Cybersecurity;
- Media;
- Artificial Intelligence and others.
EU legislation in this section includes rules regarding electronic communications, information society services such as e-commerce and conditional access services, as well as audiovisual services. In the area of electronic communications, the EU acquis aims to remove barriers to the effective functioning of the internal market for telecommunications services and networks, support competition, and protect consumer interests in this sector, including the overall availability of modern services.
