Germany changes the rules: what awaits Ukrainian drivers from October 1.

From October 1, 2024, new car registration rules for Ukrainian refugees living in Germany for more than a year are being introduced. This means that Ukrainians will need to register their cars in Germany and obtain German license plates.
According to "Khvili," the German Federal Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with local authorities, has developed a special questionnaire to simplify the car registration process for vehicles with Ukrainian license plates.
To register a car, it is necessary to have an identity document with the surname written in Latin script, Ukrainian car documents, and an insurance policy. All these documents must be presented in paper form.
This innovation is aimed at improving road situation control in Germany, as cars with Ukrainian license plates are difficult to fully control.
The exact number of cars with Ukrainian license plates on German roads is still unknown.
