A driver hit a cyclist in Lviv region: the man died.


In the Lviv region, law enforcement is conducting an investigation into a fatal traffic accident that resulted in the death of a cyclist. This was reported by the police of the region.
The incident occurred on January 17 on the 'Lviv-Radekhiv-Lutsk' highway near the village of Novyi Stav.
The police established that a 31-year-old man driving a Peugeot collided with a 49-year-old cyclist who was a resident of Lviv region.
As a result of the accident, the cyclist died at the scene. The police of Lviv region initiated a criminal proceeding under Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to this article, imprisonment for a term of three to eight years is provided, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such. Law enforcement continues the investigation of the incident.
The police of Kyiv region is also investigating a fatal traffic accident in Obukhiv, while in Vinnytsia, a Mercedes driver who hit two girls at a pedestrian crossing has been detained.
Additionally, in Dnipropetrovsk region, there have been 386 traffic accidents involving drunk drivers since the beginning of 2025, resulting in the deaths of 10 people.
