Carrot hits price records, and this is not the limit: the main vegetable of the borscht set has sharply risen in price.

Carrot prices in Ukraine have risen sharply
Carrot prices in Ukraine have more than doubled compared to last year, according to market analysts. The increase in price has been particularly noticeable for the residents of the capital.
According to experts, as of October 23, 2024, the cost of carrots in Kyiv markets ranges from 20 to 26 hryvnias per kilogram. The situation is slightly better at the Lviv wholesale market "Shuvar", where the average price is 16.5 hryvnias per kilogram. However, even here, there is a significant increase - 154% compared to the same period last year.
In regions where the main production is concentrated, farmers offer quality carrots at a price of 12-16 hryvnias per kilogram. This is 32% more than was recorded at the end of last week.
The head of the marketing department of "Shuvar", Tetyana Popovych, notes that the pricing is influenced by a complex of factors, including weather conditions and logistical challenges.
Experts highlight three main reasons for the increase in prices: a reduction in supply due to the seasonal factor, an increase in production costs, and the loss of part of the sowing areas due to military actions.
Despite the difficult situation, in 2024, it was possible to harvest 844.4 thousand tons of carrots, which is 12.8% more than the indicators of the previous period.
According to market analysts, producers plan to continue to raise prices if the current sales rates are maintained.
