Lithuania will allocate funds for solar power plants in Ukraine.

The Lithuanian government has approved a support program for Ukraine's energy sector, which includes the installation of solar power plants worth 5 million euros.
Rasa Kairiene, head of the Development Cooperation Department of Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the equipment for solar power plants must be reliable and protected from cyber-attacks, therefore it must be of European origin.
“When choosing solar power plants, we must ensure the reliability of the equipment that will be installed and the aspects of cybersecurity, so as not to create additional dependency on Ukraine, therefore we will try to include in the procurement process a condition that the equipment must come from the European Union or European economies,” she noted.
The draft governmental decision indicates that Ukrainian high-ranking officials ask at all meetings to increase support for Ukraine's energy system and help create more decentralized capacity for electricity generation.
The main areas of Lithuania's participation in the reconstruction and recovery of Ukraine for the period 2024-2027, which were approved in October by the government, include supporting the construction of schools, shelters, purchasing demining equipment, promoting Ukraine's European integration, and strengthening the resilience of the energy sector.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the total support for Ukraine from Lithuania from February 2022 until the end of this year will amount to 1.45 billion euros.
