Every third euro: Germany has calculated spending on refugees.

Unemployment benefit expenditures in Germany are rising due to refugees and migrants
According to a report by the German Ministry of Labor, nearly 30% of unemployment benefit spending in Germany is attributed to refugees and migrants. In 2021, 5.9 billion euros were allocated to support this category of individuals, but in 2022 this amount rose to 12.2 billion euros. Forecasts suggest that in 2024, spending on refugees and migrants will reach 13.7 billion euros. Citizens of Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine make up the largest share of recipients.
The war in Ukraine and the influx of refugees forced Germany to increase assistance expenditures
This increase in spending is associated with the war in Ukraine, which brought over 1.3 million refugees to Germany. It is worth noting that the report did not account for Germans with a migration background. Over the last few years, more than 2.5 million out of 4.0 million able-bodied recipients of assistance have a migration history.
Citizens of Ukraine and other countries actively pay taxes and are part of society
The Ministry of Labor emphasizes that citizens of Ukraine and other primary countries of refugee origin are active participants in society and pay taxes. Despite this, sanctions for individuals who refuse jobs are unlikely to be implemented.
