Every chip is a life: The Netherlands punished over 70 companies and individuals for circumventing sanctions against Russia.

In the last three years, the Dutch authorities have held at least 70 companies and individuals accountable for circumventing the European Union's sanctions regime against Russia, which was imposed in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
This was reported by Algemeen Dagblad.
According to the publication, there are currently about 40 proceedings regarding violations of sanctions legislation under consideration.
The article notes that compliance with sanctions, particularly regarding microchips and electronic components, is of great importance, as 'every microchip that does not reach Russia means fewer deaths in Ukraine.'
The Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service has initiated 30 criminal cases, of which six have already been reviewed. The verdicts include fines and imprisonment for up to 32 months. The remaining cases are still under investigation or trial.
The Dutch customs authorities have opened 80 cases, of which 64 have already been resolved amicably. The fines range from 500 to 200,000 euros.
The authorities cannot specify the exact number of individuals and organizations held accountable, as several legal and physical persons may be involved in one case.
