Cyber Police uncovered a new scheme of stealing money through the reissue of SIM cards.

The Cyber Police uncovered a dangerous fraud scheme involving SIM cards
The employees of the Cyber Police of Ukraine discovered a fraud scheme related to the reissue of SIM cards, which allows criminals to gain control over the financial assets of citizens.
By gaining control over your number, criminals can access bank accounts, take out loans in your name, and also hack electronic accounts and use them for malicious purposes.
Criminals use social engineering and phishing sites to implement this fraud scheme. The tactic of making numerous phone calls, which are later used for reissuing the SIM card, is particularly dangerous.
Cybersecurity experts recommend citizens to take a number of protective measures, including: prohibiting remote reissuing of SIM cards, using a separate number for financial transactions, and switching to a contractual service form.
In case of falling into trouble caused by fraud, experts recommend immediately contacting your phone operator to block your number and reaching out to the bank to cease operations on the accounts. It's also important to check the security of all related accounts and inform your relatives about the possibility of fraud on your part.
If you become a victim of fraud, you can file a complaint with law enforcement agencies or contact the cyber police through a special online form. Law enforcement emphasizes that a quick reaction to such incidents increases the chances of preserving funds and bringing criminals to justice.
Previously, PrivatBank had already emphasized the spread of phone fraud.
