Galushchenko Warned About the Consequences of Russian Strikes on Ukrainian Energy.

Attacks on Energy Facilities by Russia Threaten Nuclear Safety, - Minister
During a meeting with the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency Fatih Birol, Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko emphasized that Russia, attacking energy facilities, does not think about the risks this creates. He noted that such attacks pose a threat not only to Ukraine but to the entire world.
The minister stressed that the Russians neglected nuclear safety when they attacked substations important for the operation of nuclear power plants, as well as when they launched drones and missiles over nuclear facilities. He noted that a blackout at an operating nuclear power plant could lead to a scenario similar to Fukushima.
Galushchenko expressed the opinion that monitoring missions of the IAEA at Ukrainian substations could play an important role in preventing such incidents. He also noted that Ukraine successfully completed repair work on energy facilities and prepared for the winter period.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the necessity to increase the limits of commercial electricity trading between Ukraine and the EU, which will enhance the reliability of the Ukrainian energy system during the difficult winter period of 2024/2025.
