Pet registration in Kyiv has become easier

Starting from Monday, pet registration has begun at the Centers for Administrative Services in Kyiv. This primarily concerns dogs - their registration has been mandatory since 2007, although in practice this regulation has not always been followed.

Now the procedure will become simpler and more accessible, said the director of the Department of Administrative Services of the Kyiv City State Administration, Natalia Shamray. To register, owners must appear at the Administrative Services Center with their pet.

According to the director of the Kyiv City Veterinary Medicine Hospital, Serhiy Saburov, this is not only a matter of control but also of safety: 'In case a pet escapes, having registration data significantly increases the chances of its quick return home.' This will also allow the city to better plan its infrastructure and adhere to veterinary and sanitary norms.

Pet registration involves providing information about the owner, the address of keeping, the date of the last vaccination, sterilization, and microchipping. The service costs 210 hryvnias and takes up to 15 days. At the Administrative Services Center, the owner fills out form No. 1 and presents the payment receipt.

After the procedure is completed, the pet is assigned a unique identification number, and the owner receives an official certificate. Cat owners can register voluntarily. Information about the pet can subsequently be updated via a personal account.

It should be noted that a register of pets has been created in Ukraine based on the 'Diia' platform.

Analysis: The new pet registration service in Kyiv will improve control over pets, enhance safety levels, and simplify the process of finding owners in case of lost pets. It will also allow the city to more effectively plan its infrastructure and adhere to veterinary norms to ensure public health.
