Prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine reach seven-year high: how much does a kilogram cost.

According to analysts from the EastFruit project, Ukraine is experiencing a rapid increase in prices for greenhouse cucumbers. Experts explain this by the insufficient amount of products on the domestic market due to limited supply from local producers. Despite this, demand remains moderate but stable.
Over the weekend, producers sell cucumbers at prices of 80-100 UAH/kg ($1.94-2.42/kg), which is 24% higher than at the end of the last working week.
Cucumber prices are at their highest in the last 7 years and continue for the third consecutive week.
Importers report readiness for large-scale purchases of cucumbers from Turkey due to a significant decrease in supply from Ukrainian farms. Traditionally, imported products begin to enter the domestic market from the second half of October, when the supply of local vegetables sharply decreases.
The largest import volumes occur in the first two winter months when local production is almost absent.
Currently, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are on average 29% more expensive than at the same period last year.
Experts predict that prices for greenhouse cucumbers may continue to rise if the current sales pace persists. According to their forecasts, the price increase will only stop with the start of significant supplies of imported cucumbers.
