Vegetable Prices are 'Biting': How Much Cucumbers and Tomatoes Cost at the End of January.


Vegetable prices continue to rise in Ukraine
According to the data from the Minfin portal, prices for popular vegetables in Ukraine continue to rise, even in the winter season. Many consumers are not ready to give up their favorite cucumbers and tomatoes. Some items have become more expensive, but there are also those that have become cheaper.
It should be noted that compared to last month, some items have noticeably increased in price, while others have decreased.
For example, cucumber prices show a mixed trend. Regular cucumbers have slightly decreased from 115.69 to 113.90 hryvnias per kilogram, smooth cucumbers have significantly dropped in price from 165.90 to 150.60 hryvnias per kilogram, while short-fruited varieties have shown a slight increase from 111.61 to 113.80 hryvnias.
In the case of tomatoes, there is a general increase in prices. Red tomatoes have risen from 122.36 to 133.70 hryvnias per kilogram, but the variation in prices among different stores is quite large - from 99.99 hryvnias at Novus to 170.10 hryvnias at Megamarket. Pink tomatoes have slightly decreased from 144.38 to 139.90 hryvnias, and top-quality tomatoes have also slightly lowered in price from 153.16 to 150.00 hryvnias per kilogram.
