Actor and lecturer Somov accused of humiliating students with colleague.


Actor and lecturer of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNTUD) Lev Somov has been accused of bullying students. According to actress Oleksandra Myronenko, Somov humiliated students by calling them freaks and insulting them. The lecturer also threw water bottles at students and demanded that they meet his requests. Myronenko also recounted an incident where Somov spat in her face during a performance on stage. The woman also noted that the lecturer did not allow any relationships between students and prohibited some students from being on stage. Myronenko also spoke about the humiliation of her appearance and how it affected her health and well-being. He called her fat ass and chubby until she lost weight. The woman shared that she became ill as a result of the humiliations and demanded changes from herself.
Silent for nine years
Another student, Stefani Stavytska, shared that she also suffered from Somov's behavior. She remained silent for nine years but has now decided to share her experience. Stavytska noted that she left the course after the lecturer hit her in the face. She also cites examples of humiliation and insults that she experienced during rehearsals.
Comment from lecturer
Lecturer Valeriya Demchenko commented on the story, stating that she never had malice and always treated students with respect. She also expressed doubt regarding Oleksandra Myronenko's account of the problems she faced during her studies. Demchenko admitted that she made her own mistakes but always valued her students.
More and more stories about this problem are emerging in the Ukrainian theater community, causing outrage and support. Oleksandra Myronenko called on everyone affected by this case not to remain silent and to share their story.
