USA to provide Ukraine with additional security assistance
The US Department of Defense announced additional security assistance to Ukraine to address critical security and defense needs. This is the 63rd tranche of equipment provided to Ukraine since August 2021.
The new aid package, approximately $125 million, is provided under Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) and includes air defense systems, multifunctional radars to detect and counter enemy artillery, as well as anti-tank weaponry.
The package includes:
- Stinger missiles
- Ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems
- 155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells
- Multifunctional radars
- TOW (Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided) missiles
- Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems
- HMMWV ambulances
- Ammunition for small arms
- Equipment and explosives for demolition work
- Equipment to protect critical national infrastructure
- Spare parts, auxiliary equipment, services, training, and transportation
The US states its intention to continue working with over 50 allies and partners to provide Ukrainian defenders with the necessary capabilities to counter Russian aggression.
